Our pipeline ball and gate valves are supplied as follows:

Pressure shell materials
Parts are normally forged, and typical materials are:
- High tensile carbon steel
- Low temperature steel

- Duplex stainless steel (including Ferralium)
Where appropriate, internal coatings are:
- Electroless nickel
- Epoxy
- Phenolic
- Weld deposited Inconel 625, 316, or duplex stainless steel
Seal materials
Seal materials are normally ‘O’ rings manufactured to Cort specifications from nitrile, Viton and HNBR elastomers. Other seals are produced from a number of materials, including nylon, graphite, stainless steel, PTFE and Tefzel, to give the widest compatibility with pressure temperature and chemical conditions.

Fire Safety and Fire Shrouding
Cort C-B5 ball valves are constructed to a fire-safe design, which has been tested/qualified in various sizes/classes to the following standards: BS 6755 pt2, API RP6F, API 6FA, API 607.
Gate valves can also be offered in fire safe design and construction. The Cort C-G4 gate valve is qualified to BS 6755 pt2 in sizes 16” and above, in class 300 and 600.
Our scotch yoke actuators and control systems are shrouded to protect them in case there is a fire, and to ensure valve operation is still possible during the initial stages of a fire.
Flow Control Duty
The C-B5 trunnion mounted ball valve can also be supplied with retracted, hard-faced seats, together with a suitable modulating actuator and control system.
